Performance
Australian Standards
All ACA Shutters & Blinds Essential aluminium windows and doors have been rigorously tested to meet AS2047 standards, ensuring maximum safety and reliability. This testing covers critical performance aspects such as deflection, operating force, air leakage, water ingress, and overall structural strength. Additionally, select products in our Essential range are tested to the AS4284 standard for enhanced performance.
U-Values
In compliance with the Building Code of Australia, our windows and doors are manufactured to meet the minimum requirements outlined by Australian Standards AS2047 and AS1288.
Simulated High Winds and Heavy Rain
The AS4420.2 Deflection Test subjects the windows to positive and negative wind pressures to assess their maximum deflection under wind loads. The AS4420.5 Water Penetration Resistance Test ensures that no water enters the interior of the building during extreme weather conditions.
Operating Force Test
The AS4420.3 Operating Force Test verifies that window sashes open and close easily, without requiring excessive force.
Air Infiltration Control
The AS4420.4 Air Infiltration Test measures the air penetration levels to ensure optimal energy efficiency and noise control in your home.
Ultimate Strength Testing
The AS4420.6 Ultimate Strength Test applies both negative and positive wind pressures at 1.5 times the design wind pressure to confirm the windows can withstand extreme wind conditions without failure.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY
WERS, Uw and SHGC
- WERS - The Window Energy Rating Scheme (WERS) is recognized by the AFRC, ensuring its ratings comply with the NCC standards. Reports generated by WERS evaluate the overall performance of windows, including the U-Value (Uw) and the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGCw).
- Uw - The U-value is a metric to determine a product's ability to retain heat. It calculates the rate at which heat is lost or gained through a material or assembly. For Australian products, U-value ratings typically range from 2.0-10.0 W/m2.K. A lower U-value indicates higher resistance to heat and cold flow and better insulation properties.
- SHGC - The Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) measures a product's ability to block heat from sunlight. It is expressed as a decimal value between 0 and 1, with a lower SHGC meaning the window allows less solar heat to pass through.
